The best thing about getting a room decorated is that you can make it look totally different to the way it was.  Okay, so it is obviously going to be different if it’s another colour!  But it all goes much further than that.  You can change your room to whatever degree you want; simply by painting the walls in a new colour or by changing everything in it as well.

Of course, we all have a budget to stick to and just how much you change will depend on this.  But replacing furniture and fittings is always worth thinking about.  It can really transform a room, far more than a simple lick of paint.  What about replacing your curtains with velux blinds?  Or how about splashing out on a new sofa?  If anything in your room is beginning to look a bit shabby, then this is a great time to start afresh.

A lot of us see decorating as a chore, but it can actually be a whole lot of fun.  It isn’t just about painting; it’s about giving the whole of your room a brand new look!

I don’t like having to decorate, but it always looks so nice when it’s finished! You can also get different light switches and electrical sockets changed over; there are some really nice ones on the market these days.
If you are trying to make your room look bigger, then I think it is best to choose lighter colours and to fit blinds instead of curtains.

This is absolutely true! When my hubby and I re-papered our lounge we decided to fit a new carpet at the same time (after we had finished the paintwork!).
I’m so pleased we did because it is like having a whole new room!
