I like my home to look as modern as possible. It’s the twenty-first century now and I want to live somewhere that looks really up to date. So many people spend loads of money trying to make their homes look nice, but they just end up looking old and fusty.
The only sort of ‘old’ that I like is the retro look and if you tie this in with modern furniture and accessories then it can look fantastic. For example, you can buy some great designs in velux blinds these days that will give your rooms a really minimalistic feel. Besides, who’d even think about buying curtains anymore? They look so frumpy!
If you are going for a modern look then it is important to avoid clutter. This is good advice anyway because it generates so much more work if you have a home full of ‘nick-nacks’. One or two shelves with a few simple vases are enough for me. I have better things to do with my time than to go around my flat dusting keepsakes all the time.

Yeah, I like the modern look as well and it is so much easier to maintain a room with less in it!
Personally, I’ve never understood why people fill their homes with junk; do they really need a souvenir to remind them that they went on holiday??? If so then it can’t have been a very good one.

It’s great to have less clutter in your home, but you have to keep it balanced I think. If you don’t have some keepsakes in your house then it will just end up looking cold and sterile.
